Dr Bharath has over 20 years of experience in the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, beginning with the completion of his BDS degree in India in 2004. Following this, he trained at the Royal London Hospital, completing the PGDDS programme in 2007 with a focus on Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Oral Medicine.
His extensive surgical training includes craniofacial distraction, trauma management, orthognathic surgery, and head and neck skin surgery across several renowned units including University Hospital Coventry, Southampton General Hospital, and Peterborough City Hospital. These experiences have played a significant role in shaping his expertise and surgical approach. Dr Bharath has also served as a Locum Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Peterborough City Hospital for the past nine years.
A strong advocate for education and professional development, Dr Bharath is committed to giving back to the profession that has supported his career. He is a panel member for the national recruitment of dental trainees and an Educational Supervisor for junior doctors within his hospital role. In addition, he serves as the Regional Advisor for Dentistry for the East of England through the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and is an associate member and faculty member for the Strasbourg Osteosynthesis Research Group in the field of pre-prosthetic surgery.
Dr Bharath regularly lectures on contemporary topics in Oral Surgery through various educational platforms, including Dentinal Tubules, and runs a hands-on trauma management course in India for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery trainees. He also mentors colleagues in dental implantology and pre-prosthetic surgery.
His special interests include full-mouth implant rehabilitation and same-day teeth treatments using All-on-4 and All-on-6 concepts. At The Ackerman Clinic, he is part of one of the few centres in the country offering advanced zygomatic and sub-periosteal implant solutions, including the use of custom-made implants for patients who may not be suitable candidates for conventional implant treatment.
Outside of work, Dr Bharath enjoys spending time with his wife, Saumya, and their son. His hobbies include playing cricket for his local club, painting, and a longstanding passion for astronomy and stargazing.
